Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner is going to Divorce
After 10 years of marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have announced their plans to divorce.
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the pair said in a joint statement provided to The Insider With Yahoo. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
Affleck and Garner's 10th wedding anniversary was on Monday. They have three children together: Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3.
The marriage has been the subject of tabloid scrutiny for years, especially after Affleck remarked that his marriage was "work" during his Oscar acceptance speech after Argo won Best Picture in 2013.
Speculation about a possible split was amplified when moving trucks were seen outside their home in the Pacific Palisades earlier this month. However, it was reported at the time that the two were doing renovations to their home and the moving trucks were there to take furniture into storage.
Garner, who was previously married to Scandal's Scott Foley, met Affleck when they co-starred in Pearl Harbor together, while Garner and Foley were still married. When they reunited for Daredevil in the summer of 2002, Affleck had just started dating Jennifer Lopez, a famously doomed relationship. It was Affleck's cameo in the Daredevil spinoff, Elektra — which was ultimately cut — that brought them together romantically. As Garner told Parade in 2010, it was Affleck's romantic emails that wooed her. By the time Elektra came out in January 2005, the two were already a hot item, and they got engaged that April.
Last year, Garner commented on her and Affleck's "mindful" marriage, saying "you can't expect to be courted all the time." "We're definitely in a very mindful place where we're making an effort to be together, do things at the same time, and be loving," she told InStyle.
Both Affleck and Garner have been keeping busy with their careers of late. Affleck was in Detroit to film his role as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Since filming wrapped, he's been seen in Toronto where Suicide Squad, another film in the DC Comics franchise, is currently filming. According to IMDb, Garner is currently filming Nine Lives, which co-stars Kevin Spacey and Robbie Amell.
